Downtown Bus service rerouted

The Downtown Connection, Lower Manhattan’s free bus service, will be rerouted to accommodate a reconstruction project on Warren Street, issued by the NYC Department of Design and Construction. The Alliance for Downtown New York will oversee the rerouting efforts, effective February 20, 2017 through September 2019. The new route will eliminate three stops on Warren Street: at Greenwich Street, Church Street and North End Avenue.

With construction on Warren Street, connection buses will be rerouted one block up to Chambers Street between Broadway and North End Avenue. Seaport-bound buses will run east along Chambers Street and return to the regular route at Broadway and Murray Street. The nearest stop to Whole Foods will be at Murray and Greenwich.

“Many residents rely on The Downtown Connection to help get around Lower Manhattan, and making sure we continue service as seamlessly and safely as possible is the highest priority for us,” Downtown Alliance’s president, Jessica Lappin, said in a statement.

The Alliance for Downtown New York runs the Downtown Connection in partnership with Battery Park City Authority; each organization will be paying 50 percent of restructuring costs. The buses operate seven days a week from 10 a.m. to 7:30 p.m.
