    Shots Fired, Suspect Arrested

    According to police, at 10:40 p.m. on Friday, September 10, a 22-year-old man fired two gunshots in the direction of a 32-year-old man in front of 1132 Lexington Ave. at East 79th St. Fortunately, the 32-year-old was not hit, and he was able to identify the suspect when police searched the neighborhood later. Edwin Aguilar was duly arrested and charged with assault.

    Police Nab Stabbing Suspect

    Police reported that at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, September 15, a 26-year-old man got into a dispute with a 29-year-old man, who punched him with a closed fist to his face, causing bruising and swelling, inside 345 East 92nd St. near First Ave. The 29-year-old then stabbed the younger man with a knife in his abdominal area and the left back of his body, causing an open wound and bleeding. The victim was taken to New York-Presbyterian/Weill Cornell Medical Center for treatment, and the suspect, Kyle Morales, was arrested and charged with assault.

    Robbery Suspect Collared

    A 51-year-old male employee at the Gristedes store at 1644 York Ave. at East 87th St. told police that at 10:05 p.m. on Friday, August 27, he saw a 53-year-old man put store merchandise into a backpack. The employee confronted the man as he was leaving the store without paying, and the man pulled out a switchblade knife. The employee grabbed the suspect’s arm, and the suspect bit the employee’s arm, breaking his skin and causing pain, swelling and bleeding. The employee then wrestled the suspect to the floor, and the employee’s left hand got cut by the suspect’s knife, breaking the skin and causing pain and bleeding. The employee was treated at Mount Sinai Morningside hospital, and Kevin Blake was arrested and charged with robbery.

    So Much for His Parole

    At 2:05 a.m. on Saturday, September 4, a deliveryman saw a 53-year-old man kicking the front door of the Boutique Mirabelle at 1310 Madison Ave. at East 93rd St. several times, causing damage to the door frame and glass, before gaining entry to the store. The witness called 911, and when police arrived they found the suspect inside, removing items without permission or authority. William Clanton, a robbery suspect on parole, was arrested again and found to be in possession of two bags, one filled with costume jewelry and the other with clothing.

    No Bathroom Break

    At 4:30 a.m. on Wednesday, September 1, a police officer saw that the front door at 419 East 74th St. between First Ave. and York Ave. had been pried open, with damage to the door’s lock and glass. The officer entered the location to investigate and saw a 51-year-old man trying to open a cash register. The suspect attempted to flee by running into a bathroom and closing the door, but Gregory Gauger was arrested on a charge of burglary.
