Police Seek Four Young Muggers
According to police, at 9:30 p.m. on Thursday, May 5, a 20-year-old woman and her 18-year-old boyfriend were walking at the northwest corner of Dyer Ave. and West 41st St when four suspects approached them – a 16-year-old woman and a 20-year-old man known to them, plus two other men. The female victim said the 16-year-old girl punched her in the face, knocking her to the ground before kicking her, causing a concussion. The male victim said that the other three suspects pulled out two bottles of liquor and hit him over the head, causing lacerations to his neck and arm which required stitches. The male victim fell to the ground, and the suspects took his sneakers before fleeing eastbound. The stolen shoes were valued at $100.
Verbal Dispute Turns Violent in Sex Store
A 39-year-old man told police that at 7:12 a.m. on Saturday, May 7, he got into a verbal dispute with a woman inside the Sexy Boutique at 155 Eighth Ave. at West 18th St. that turned violent when the woman punched him with a closed fist in his face. The victim refused medical attention at the scene and later proved uncooperative with police.
Man’s Dance Floor Assailant Arrested
A 25-year-old man said that at 2:40 a.m. on Sunday, May 8, he was dancing inside the Eagle at 554 West 28th St. near Eleventh Ave. when a 31-year-old male acquaintance threw a glass on the floor about five feet away from him. After the glass shattered, the acquaintance struck the 25-year-old in the head with a closed fist. The victim sustained a minor laceration above his left eye and was treated and released at the scene by an EMS team. Yaniv Gidanian was arrested and charged with assault.
Two Unprovoked Assaults
A 48-year-old man reported that at 2 p.m. on Saturday, May 7, he was walking to get a sandwich at the northwest corner of Eighth Ave. and West 26th St. when an unknown man approached him screaming and yelling and punched him about ten times before fleeing on foot. The victim sustained a minor laceration to his nose along with redness and swelling to his face. Apparently, the assault was unprovoked as there had been no prior interaction between the two parties.
Police reported that at 10 p.m. on Sunday, May 1, a 52-year-old man entered the Chase Bank ATM at 471 West 42nd St. at Tenth Ave. When he got inside, an unknown man struck him with a closed fist in his face, knocking him to the ground, causing severe swelling and pain to the left side of the victim’s face. Again, police described the assault as unprovoked.
