    Man Arrested in Street Assault

    A 69-year-old man told police that at 8:12 a.m. on Monday, August 23, a 37-year-old man was walking in front of him outside 305 East 87th St. at Second Ave. when the younger man turned around and punched the senior with a closed fist to his right eye, causing him to fall to the ground. The victim suffered a bruise and swelling to his right eye. Police searched the neighborhood, and Donte Anderson was arrested on a charge of assault at the intersection of Third Ave. and East 100th St. The suspect was also wanted for a robbery complaint in the Seventh Precinct.

    Another Senior Victimized in Computer Scam

    An 82-year-old woman living on East 75th St. reported that at 10 p.m. on Monday, August 16, she received a phone call from someone saying that she had security issues on her computer. She was told to turn the machine off and the security issues would be fixed. When the woman next checked her email she saw a notification from her bank, Citibank, stating that a wire transfer in the amount of $96,000 had been sent from her account to a firm called Siacom Technology. Of course, she had not approved the transfer, but the caller had tricked her into providing personal information that enabled the theft.

    Duane Reade Store Burglarized

    According to police, at 5:10 a.m. on Monday, August 23, a 42-year-old man was seen on security video entering the Duane Reade store at 773 Lexington Ave. at East 61st St. The suspect then broke into a cash register with a hammer, before taking money and various items from store shelves and then fleeing through a back exit leading to a residential building at 150 East 61st St. triggering an alarm at 5:50 a.m. A doorman there saw the suspect via a security camera escaping from the building’s roof, climbing off and fleeing northbound on East 61st St. In addition to the cash taken, the items stolen included fifteen Apple chargers, seven AirPods, six Gillette razor refills and eight Gillette Venus razors totaling $1,638.

    Cash Taken from Kratom Store

    At 4:07 a.m. on Tuesday, August 24, a 31-year-old male employee of the CBD Kratom store at 794 Lexington Ave. near East 62nd St. was alerted by an alarm company that two men had entered through the front door of the location and taken cash out of the register. The suspects then fled in an unknown direction at 4:15 a.m. Police searched the neighborhood but couldn’t find the pair or the stolen cash, which amounted to $300.
