Woman Allegedly Struck by Wine Bottle
Police reported that at 2 a.m. on Friday, January 14, a 25-year-old woman got into a verbal dispute with an unknown woman inside 225 Tenth Ave. near West 24th St. When the 25-year-old tried to leave the location the other woman threw a wine bottle, hitting her on the shoulder, causing pain. The alleged assailant then fled in a black Mercedes heading northbound on Tenth Ave. The victim refused medical attention at the scene but was highly intoxicated and refused to talk to detectives.
Man Arrested in Assault on Acquaintance
A 64-year-old man told police that at 2 a.m. on Sunday, January 16, he had a verbal quarrel with a 44-year-old male acquaintance at the northeast corner of Ninth Ave. and West 16th St. The younger man then punched the senior in his chest, causing pain and difficulty breathing. The victim was taken to Lenox Hill Hospital for treatment, and Osama Abdelqader was arrested and charged with assault.
2021 Honda Accord Stolen
A woman reported that at 6:30 p.m. on Friday, January 14, she parked her white 2021 Honda Accord with New York plates KML9615 in front of 426 West 26th St. between Ninth Ave. and Tenth Ave. When she returned at 3:30 p.m. on Sunday, January 16, she found that the car was missing. She told police that she might have accidentally left the ignition key fob in the car’s cupholder. The vehicle was valued at $30,000.
Senior Victimized in Phishing Scam
According to police, at 1:30 p.m. on Thursday, January 13, a 72-year-old woman was in her home on West 28th St. when she received a cellphone notification that appeared to be from Amazon. She clicked on the link, enabling someone to access her bank account without her authorization and transfer $4,939 from her account to various Venmo accounts.
High-Ticket Jacket Jacked from Local Boutique
A 53-year-old male employee at the Letter J boutique located at 557 West 23rd St. near Eleventh Ave. said that at 4:36 p.m. on Friday, January 14, a 30-year-old man entered the location, tried on a jacket and then took out his wallet, acting as if he were going to purchase the item. Instead, however, the man fled the store on foot, heading westbound on West 23rd St. without paying. A search of the neighborhood proved fruitless. The stolen garment was a Stone Island jacket valued at $4,000.
